It is particularly important to help disadvantaged children to enhance their language capacity, to build social skills and to increase their cultural exposure, in order to enable them to have an equal start. Education is critical for a good start in life. But since not all young people have this opportunity, we have been supporting programmes that offer enriching educational experiences to the less privileged.

Lawrence Ho Scholarship Fund

Established in 2009, the Lawrence Ho Scholarship Fund has supported nearly 40 scholarships and research projects. The fund enables students from China, Macau and Hong Kong to further their studies overseas.

Plan Hong Kong – Children’s Sponsorship Programme
In partnership with Plan Hong Kong, we subsidised staff sponsorships to help 35 disadvantaged children in China, Laos, the Philippines and Cambodia receive a better education.

 

 

World University Service – Turkish Delight Student Cultural Exchange and Volunteer Tour
We sponsored 30 HKU students on a nine-day cultural experience in four cities in Turkey. Highlights included visits to universities, cultural performances and presentations and community service projects.

Association for the Promotion of Cultural Heritage –
Cultural Heritage Tour

For a second year, we helped 200 students from Hong Kong, Guangzhou and Taiwan learn more about Chinese culture through seminars and heritage site tours held in Guangzhou.
